A drunk tank can be handy, especially when the van can swing by and pick them up. Wish ours was bigger.

We didn't have one. I was very surprised by that. It is needed.
And honestly, being *really* drunk was a decent way to not being arrested, other things being equal.
The fear in Baltimore was that you would take somebody to Central Booking and they (the state) wouldn't accept them. Then you'd be stuck with him.
And you don't want to be stuck with a vomiting drunk guy.
