You'd be surprised how many calls police get about being "robbed" of $20 by a drug dealer. But we'd usually laugh at the person rather than lock him up.
Once I got a call about real robbery that involved a lot of drug money. The victims never actually confessed to a crime, but they were pretty straight with me. There was mutual understanding.
I was willing to investigate (more so than most other cops). Just because it was drug money from drug dealers didn't mean it wasn't a real armed robbery. And the victims were far more cooperative than most people I dealt with.
If I a solved the case, not only could I arrest a few armed robbers, but I might also have been able to prevent a future retaliatory killing.

I had a good laugh with this one. Reminds me of the people who call 911 because someone stole their illegal drugs.
